Welcome back to school!
Welcome to the new school year! We are excited to have you and your child as part our learning community. Gold Ridge is fortunate to have an experienced, dedicated, and professional staff. We are also blessed with a supportive and involved parent body. If you are a new parent, we hope you will dive in and get involved. We think you will like what you find. And your involvement enriches learning and our school.
I am excited
to introduce three new teachers who joined our team this summer. Kelly Weske is
teaching first grade in F2. Julie Lira is teaching fourth grade in P2. Ursula
Beck is co-teaching our SDC class in F6 with Cher’rond Rodriguez. The three new teachers bring a wealth of experience and skills that enrich our teaching team.
This school year will bring a continued focus on Common Core standards and technology at Gold Ridge. We are very excited to implement Benchmark Advance, the new language arts curriculum adopted by the District. Teachers have received initial training and will receive additional PD this fall. With the support of PTA and Intel, we continue to purchase classroom Chromebooks with the goal getting to a computer:student ratio of 1:4. We will be working to integrate technology, particularly Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, into our new language arts program.
Out PTA is gearing up to play the lead on an assortment of enrichment and educational programs from our after school program “Club Eagle” to the Harvest Carnival. Please consider signing up to work on a committee or help with an event. Wendy Neese and Hanh Xiong, our PTA Co-Presidents, will have a brief overview of programs and activities at Back to School Night.
Our office is always open to you. Please feel free to call, email, or come in whenever you have questions.
At Gold Ridge we challenge every student to be the best they can be. We are delighted you and your child are here and our entire staff wishes you a terrific school year.
