Principal's Column -
February 3,
2010
Dear
Parents and Guardians:
It continues to amaze me how time
just has a way of flying! This February holds some past
practices such as registration, super and minimum day
but also brings the “new” President’s Week and the
Foundation upcoming Laser Show. Get your Blackberry
out and add these important dates to your calendar.
Registration packets are due to the office this Friday,
February 5. While early registration is a time for
Sundahl to begin acquiring our student population
information for next year, it is not a time for us to
begin class placement. We will conquer that task in mid
May. Thank you for making sure the front office has your
child’s registration or is aware of any changes
regarding your plans for next year.
Friday, February 12, will be a Super Minimum Day for
grades 1st -5th. School will begin at 8:25am and end at
11:56am. Teachers will be working on 2nd trimester
report cards on this day. Kindergarten will be on
regular schedule.
As you are already aware, Sundahl will be closed for
President’s Week beginning Monday, February 15 through
Friday, February 19. Please take this week to relax and
rejuvenate. School resumes on regular schedule on
Monday, May 22, 2010.
Two of the new editions to Sundahl come from our Student
Council. What started a conversation during a recent
student council meeting has blossomed into a new
practice called Monday Morning Announcements. Each
Monday morning students hear an announcement detailing
the events of the week, a Behavior Focus and the Pledge
of Allegiance are lead by a student council member.
Student Council has also implemented a weekly Spirit
Award which is given to the class who has the highest
percentage of Dolphin shirts worn each Friday. What a
great way to show school spirit!
Parents, guardians, and community members are always
encouraged to contact the school with any comments,
concerns or other information. The school office phone
number is 989-9182. And my email address at school is
dchays@fcusd.org.
Thank you again for your ongoing support of our programs
and activities.
Sincerely,
Donna Chulos Hays
