Mrs. Bettencourt will take over the duties for retiring superintendent Patrick Godwin.
Deborah Bettencourt has been the Deputy Superintendent for the Folsom Cordova Unified School District since 1997. She began her 36 year career in education as a teacher in the Tracy Unified School District where she also served as a director of fiscal services. Mrs. Bettencourt is highly regarded for her expertise in school business matters and in 2007 the Sacramento Business Journal named her the Chief Financial Officer of the Year for Public Agencies.
According to Board President Teresa Stanley, “Mrs. Bettencourt’s caring for students, broad experience in education, and proven expertise in public school finance make her an excellent choice to lead Folsom Cordova during these challenging times.”
