1. An educational consultant will meet with the parent
and student to select a curriculum that meets the needs
of the student, the parent, and State Content
Standards.
2. Parents will provide a five day instructional week:
17.5 hours for kindergarten, 23.75 hours for grades 1-3,
and 25 hours for grades 4-8. Records and work samples
will be kept with the help of an educational advisor.
3. At meetings held at least once every two weeks,
parents will be assisted with instructional strategies.
4. Parents may register their student for small group
workshops or field trips.
5. Parents and students can utilize the computer lab
and resource center. Parents and students may come to
the center during the week to attend workshops, study,
do work on the computers, or check out books, videos,
and curriculum materials.
6. Field trips are scheduled with a
wide range of ages in mind and are scheduled to enhance
studies in the areas of science, social studies, and
performing arts. In most cases, the Charter School will
pay for posts for the student. Parents and siblings may
need to pay for their costs for their attendance.
7. One of the keys to evaluating, maintaining, and
improving academic achievement is an assessment tool
that provides a unique test for each student. We are
using the Performance Series online testing. The Performance Series tests, by EdVISION
Corporation, are an online assessment tool that provides
a unique test for each student. The assessment is
standards-based and allows for accurate instructional
placement in multiple subjects with the ability to
determine academic growth. Customized reports allow each
student's gains to be measured according to state and
national objectives and standards.
